Our Story
Founded in 2018, New Path Psychiatry was built on a simple belief: psychiatric care works best when your providers actually talk to each other.
How We Started
In 2018, Dr. Amanda Lefkowitz, DNP, set out to establish a private psychiatric practice in New York with a singular vision: to provide whole-person psychiatric medication management.
The mental health system is full of silos. Your therapist treats one part of you. Your psychiatrist treats another. And too often, they never speak. Amanda saw this firsthand and decided to build something different, a practice where collaboration isn't a buzzword, it's how every patient is treated.
What started as a solo endeavor quickly grew. Within a year, New Path Psychiatry had expanded beyond New York, offering telehealth services to patients in New Jersey, California, and Florida. Today, the practice serves patients across multiple states with a growing team of providers, and the same commitment to coordinated, human-centered care.
What We Believe
Collaboration Over Hierarchy
Your therapist is not just someone we CC on a note. They're a partner in your care. We listen when a therapist says something doesn't seem right. And we never dismiss their clinical observations.
The Whole Person, Not Just Symptoms
There's not one right way to diagnose or treat a person. We take time to understand your life, your history, and your goals, not just your symptom checklist.
Accessible, Not Exclusive
Fee should never be a barrier. We offer sliding scale options and believe every patient deserves to be heard during intake, not rushed through a form.
Where We Are Today
What began as one provider in one state is now a multi-provider group practice serving patients across New York, New Jersey, California, Delaware, DC, Maryland, and Florida. Our team includes psychiatric nurse practitioners, a dedicated registered nurse for in-home services, and an administrative team that keeps everything running.
In 2025, Amanda and New Path Psychiatry received the Long Island Herald's Long Island Choice Award for Best Mental Health Service/Organization, a recognition that meant the world to our team.
Why Therapists Trust Us
The #1 reason therapists refer to New Path isn't our credentials or our technology. It's this: when they call, we answer. When they share a concern, we listen. When they refer a patient, they know that patient will be treated with the same care they provide.
